Yes, Amazon allows more than one seller account when there is a legitimate business need and all accounts remain in good standing. The usual rule is one selling account per region. An additional account is not a safe backup for a suspended one.
This guide concerns Amazon seller businesses and Seller Central, rather than consumer shopping accounts.
When can you open a second Amazon seller account?
Amazon gives examples such as separate businesses for distinct brands, manufacturing for different companies, or participation in an Amazon program that requires separate accounts. The business reason matters; changing contact details does not create eligibility. See Amazon’s multiple-account guidance.
Before registering, write down the commercial reason, ownership structure and operational responsibilities. Check the current policy and registration requirements for the marketplace involved.
Do you need Amazon’s permission first?
Amazon’s published clarification says prior approval is no longer required under its multiple-account policy when the legitimate-business-need and good-standing conditions are met. That does not remove registration, identity verification or marketplace-specific requirements. Read Amazon’s clarification.
Why a second account is not a suspension backup
Amazon warns that a policy issue on one account can affect related accounts, including listings, selling privileges and payments. Where one account was originally deactivated, resolving that account’s issue may be necessary before the related accounts can be restored. Do not open another account to bypass an existing restriction.
What to check before registering
- Business purpose: describe why your business needs another account, rather than assuming that another category or storefront automatically qualifies.
- Current account status: review Account Health and unresolved messages across the accounts you already operate.
- Accurate records: prepare genuine business, ownership, identity and payment information required by the registration flow. Do not invent different details to hide a relationship.
- Operational capacity: assign responsibility for orders, customer service, inventory and compliance so that each account can be managed properly.
- Regional setup: check Seller Central’s current selling-region options before creating a duplicate registration. Use the seller registration process, not instructions for creating an Amazon shopping account.
What if Amazon says your accounts are related?
Read the exact Performance Notification. Identify the account named, whether you own or previously operated it, and what Amazon asks you to do. If you do not recognize the relationship, follow the dispute route described in the message and support your explanation with records.
For a case review, gather the notifications, account names and marketplaces, ownership history, relevant agreements, and previous appeals and replies. Explain any sale, transfer, former employee access or service-provider relationship accurately. Do not guess which detail triggered the decision.
Common questions
Must every address, device and contact detail be different?
There is no reliable “100% different details” rule that makes an account compliant. Focus on the legitimate business need and accurate information. Never falsify records or disguise ownership to avoid account-linking checks.
Does selling another product category automatically require another account?
Do not assume so. Review the category permissions and business structure first. An additional account does not replace product approval or compliance requirements.
Can SellerAppeal review a related-account suspension?
Yes. Our Account Health appeal support starts with the relationship, the enforcement record and the evidence available. Send the case for an initial review before deciding what to submit next.
